BLOG UPDATE: Friendship Sharing A Proverb

Vacation in the Florida Keys

I have just returned from Islamorada in the Florida Keys - what a wonderful place!  It's called a drinking village with a fishing problem -- but really it is a great getaway.  And boy, dothey have fish!

I like Islamorada because it has a less touristy feel than Key Largo and a slightly more upscale feel than Marathon.  We stayed at a timeshare called Topsider -- single units with one of the best private beaches in the area (not a lot of beaches in the Keys) at one end and a swimming pool at the other.

This trip we (myself, hubby, 3 yo, 5 yo and Gramma) took a ride in the glass bottom boat at John Pennekamp State Park (a bit long for the kids). and visited the Dolphin Research Center in Marathon (EXCELLENT!).

In the past we've seen the shows at Theatre of the Sea as well (lots of fun - although the sea lion startled the kids a little!)

Lots of great restaurants -- always low key (pun intended) and casual with wonderful fish dishes prepared in so may different ways -- from grouper with mango salsa to coconut mahi mahi and on and on! YUM!
